Saiyuki Requiem is the work of Japanese manga artist Kazuya Ogura, which began serialization in 1997. The manga also includes two outside stories (Yakuza Gaiden and Yakuza Gaiden). In addition, the comic has nothing to do with the plot of "Journey to the West", one of the Four Great Masterpieces of China, although the character names are used.
