Founded in 1944, the University of Veracruz (Universidad Veracruzana) is a young institution of higher learning that is one of the five largest national universities in Mexico. The university is headquartered in Jalapa, the state capital of Veracruz, with four other campuses scattered throughout the state in four other cities.
