The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the institutional support organization for insurance standard setting, was founded in 1871 by insurance regulators from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. It was created and is administered by insurance adjusters from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Most of the association's offices are located in Kansas, Missouri, New York, and Washington, D.C.
