Houston Rockets The Rockets are a team in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference, founded in 1967, once called the San Diego Rockets, changed to the Houston Rockets in 1970, with its home court as the center. Chinese superstar Yao Ming joined the Rockets in 2002, so the Rockets have a large fan base in China. The Rockets have won two championships and four league championships in their history.
