New York-Presbyterian University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell (abbreviated NYP, New York-Presbyterian Columbia and Cornell University Hospital) is one of the nation's premier hospitals. It was formed in 1998 when New York Hospital (founded in 1771 as a hospital affiliated with the Medical College) and Presbyterian Hospital (founded in 1868 as a hospital affiliated with the Medical College) merged to form the largest hospital in New York State. In 2015, New York Presbyterian Hospital was ranked 6th among the best hospitals in the United States.
