The Illinois Institute of Technology ( Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) is an American private technology university founded in 1940 as a result of the merger of Amant Institute of Technology and Lewis College of Technology, located in Chicago. In the 2016 U.S. News rankings of comprehensive universities in the United States, the Illinois Institute of Technology ranked 108th.
