The University of Colorado (CU), founded in 1876, is one of the nation's leading public university systems, with four campuses located in Colorado, namely the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Colorado at Springs (CU Springs), the University of Colorado at Denver, and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Since its founding, 12 alumni have been awarded the Nobel Prize and seven have been awarded the MacArthur Prize.
