Veterans of Foreign Wars ( Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is a national veterans' organization in the United States, formed in 1913-1914 by the merger of three veterans' associations formed in the immediate aftermath of the Spanish-American War in 1899. The organization aims to help veterans enter society, defend veterans' interests, and establish programs for health care, social welfare, and the protection of women's rights.
