Club Atlético River Plate is an Argentine professional soccer club founded in 1901, located in Buenos Aires, with its home ground at Monumental Stadium. River Plate is the most successful club in the history of the Primera Division of Argentine soccer, having won 35 championships (as of July 2014). 2011 saw River Plate relegated from the Primera Division to the Second Division for the first time in its history.
