Amnesty International (AI), also known as Amnesty International, is an organization dedicated to publicizing cases of human rights violations in one country and bringing them to the attention of global public pressure. The purpose of the organization is to mobilize public opinion and to urge international institutions to guarantee freedom of expression and religion as set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and to work for the release of those imprisoned for their beliefs and for the relief of their families. In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Amnesty International received the Human Rights Prize; in 1977, it was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
