IMO: The Official Website of the International Maritime Organization is the specialized agency of the United Nations in charge of maritime affairs. It is to promote maritime safety and the prevention of marine pollution as the goal, engaged in the international coordination of the management of technical organizations.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for the safety of maritime navigation and the prevention of marine pollution from ships, with its headquarters in London. The organization was first established on January 6, 1959, originally named "Intergovernmental Maritime Consultative Organization", in May 1982 changed to its current name, to October 2006, there are 167 full members.

The purpose of the IMO is to promote technical cooperation among countries in shipping, to encourage countries to adopt uniform standards in promoting maritime safety, improving the efficiency of ship navigation, preventing and controlling marine pollution from ships, and dealing with related legal issues.
