The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (The The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA; formerly known as the British Academy Film Awards) is a British award for excellence in film, television, and interactive media, and was established by David Lean, Alexander Korda, Carol Reed, Charles Lloyd, and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. -In 1958, the Academy merged with the Television Producers and Directors Association to become the British Film and Television Association; in 1976, it was renamed to its present name; its headquarters are in London. The trophy is a mask designed by American sculptor Mietz Cunliffe, and BAFTA has set up a total of three categories: London Awards, Los Angeles Awards, and Scottish and Welsh Awards.
