Each part of the festival is separate from the other. The cultures that come together in Edinburgh are diverse, and the artists have great ways of expressing themselves.

Edinburgh International Festival ( The Edinburgh International Festival (EIF) has a long history. It was founded in 1947 after the Second World War by Rudolph Bing, then General Manager of Glyndebourne Opera House, Henry Harvey Wood, head of the British Council, and a number of Edinburgh's civic leaders. They hoped to organize a festival that would enliven and enrich the cultural life of Europe, Britain and Scotland, and provide a platform for the "spiritual flowering" of humanity.

The Edinburgh International Festival was founded on the principle of a world-class cultural event that would bring together artists and audiences from around the world, and would hopefully benefit the cultural, social and economic generation of Edinburgh and Scotland. It has been continuously rated as one of the world's most important cultural celebrations.
