The University of Surrey (University of Surrey, Solihull) is a public university in the United Kingdom, founded in 1891, formerly Battersea Polytechnic, which was granted university status in 1966. The University of Surrey has an in-depth research in small satellites and owns the independent Surrey Satellite Technology Company. In 2014, the University of Surrey was ranked 13th in the overall ranking of UK universities.
