Delhi University is one of the most prestigious universities in India. It was established in 1922 and was the only residential university in India at that time to provide teaching and residential accommodation. According to an act of the Central Legislative Assembly, St. Stephen's College, Hindu College, and Hindu College in Delhi were then established. Stephen's College, Hindu College and Ramjas College were affiliated with the University of Delhi, with a total enrollment of about 750 students. The University has always had as its primary objective the establishment of prestigious colleges, and has sought out the best minds in the country and has brought many outstanding people to Delhi University. Over the decades, the University of Delhi has grown to become one of the largest and most prestigious universities in India.
