brief introduction

The Auckland Chinese Library is a New Zealand Government registered charity. It aims to provide the largest and most extensive collection of Chinese books in New Zealand for free loan. In the future, it will be the largest Chinese language library in Oceania.

The Chinese Library is an independent organization, not a part of the Auckland Library. We hope that in the future, we can be connected with the Oakland Library system, so that readers can search all the Chinese books in both libraries in one website, thus reducing the time for readers to search for books. At the same time, we hope to accept the Chinese books donated by the Auckland Library and provide professional Chinese book selection and purchase management services to the Auckland Library.

The Oakland Chinese Library is located in the Panmure business district of Oakland, which is at the crossroads of the Middle East. There are many Chinese restaurants and stores in the area, and it is an area with a high concentration of Chinese activities.

The Oakland Chinese Library will open branches or book drop-off points in North Shore, East, West, South and City for the convenience of readers. In addition to the Chinese library in Auckland, we also plan to open branch libraries in Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and other major cities. The books in the branch libraries will be updated regularly from the main library to ensure that readers have new books to read.

Auckland Chinese Library has a collection of more than 30,000 books, 95% of which are in Chinese. The collection is dominated by traditional culture, Chinese studies, classics, spirituality, inspiration, Chinese medicine, health and positive energy books, as well as novels, travel, biographies, food, parenting, art and other kinds of books. In addition to the books, there are a small number of books for young people. In addition to books, there are a small number of various types of music CDs, movies DVDs, video tapes, newspapers and magazines and other kinds of impressions of audio-visual materials.

At present, the Auckland Library has 3.5 million books available for borrowing, with an average of 2.5 books per person. The Chinese population in Auckland is 120,000, and each Chinese has only 0.6 Chinese books to borrow on average. To reach the average of 2.5 books per Chinese, there are more than 200,000 Chinese books in Auckland libraries to fill the gap.

This does not include the demand of KIWI who love Chinese culture. Not only the quantity, but also the content of the books, the Chinese Library pays more attention to the traditional Chinese cultural content books and classic works, we hope that every reader has a favorite book to read.
