Reserve Bank of New Zealand (Reserve Bank of New Zealand): the central bank of New Zealand, established as a private bank in 1934 and a national bank since 1936, with total assets of S$10.855 billion at the end of December 2001. Its main functions are: to formulate and implement monetary policy; to manage currency issues; to maintain a rational and efficient financial system; to provide policy advice to the Minister of Finance and to implement foreign exchange policy; and to publish the New Zealand Economic Outlook and the New Zealand Financial Policy Statement on a semi-annual basis.
