The New Zealand Gazette, often abbreviated to "Gazette," is the official newspaper designated by the New Zealand government. The first edition was published on December 30, 1840 as the Special Gazette. Since 1941, it has been published every Thursday except Christmas and New Year's Day, and twice a year on New Year's Honour Day and the Queen's Birthday Honour Day.
