brief introduction

PL.SG:Singapore Bishan Public The Library is one of the distinctive landmarks located in Bishan Square, Singapore, designed by architects LOOK Architects; a number of blue-green-yellow glass "boxes" overhanging from the flat façade, staggered to form a separate space known for.

In the square box with excellent sightlines and fun, people forget the tedium of life. People forget the tedium of life, completely relax and meditate in the reading and learning of books. And this can enhance people's interest in reading the creative inspiration comes from the experience of nature. The "box" concept, called "PODS", originates from the idea of "living in a house in a tree" - a pod from the façade. -A pod overhangs from the façade, providing a more intimate area for readers or discussion groups.

The specific approach is to anchor galvanized low carbon steel brackets to the upper and lower structural floors with expansion screws, and to install large stained glass pods on the outward extensions of the brackets and to provide a proper interface with the floor and ceiling. Both the interior and exterior of the building use skylights, latticework and stained glass to create a dazzling effect of light and shadow, simulating the visual sensation of light passing through the branches and leaves of a tree in nature.

One enters the building and embarks on a journey of experience. The vertical open atrium has a wide and spacious Z-shaped ramp that connects the upper and lower levels, and also links the reading rooms on the four floors. Movement and silence, light and dark, encounter and communication, discovery and emotion all take place in this rich space. The reading area for children is placed on the ground floor to avoid noise disturbance from the upper area. Taking special care of the scale and psychology of children's use, the petal-patterned seats with lively candy colors and the floor design with dynamic lines create a fun environment to stimulate children's imagination and let them feel the joy of reading. In between reading, you can also pace the small open-air courtyard, where the lush greenery soothes the eyes of busy readers.
