The National Library Board Singapore (NLB) is the oldest library in Singapore, founded by Raffles Stamford in 1823; in 1957, under the promulgation of the In 1957, the library became a free national library and public library under the Raffles National Library Act; the National Library Building was officially opened on November 12, 1960.
