The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is a branch of the United Nations, established in 1947. It is a subsidiary body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, and its main responsibility is to promote the economic and social development of member countries.
