Cyprus Airways Airways is the national airline of the country, founded in 1947, the initial majority shareholder was the British European Airlines; in 1960, after the Republic of Cyprus declared independence, the new government became the largest shareholder of the airline. Cyprus Airways is headquartered in Nicosia and its hub airports are Larnaca International Airport and Paphos International Airport, providing air services mainly to Europe and the Middle East.
