The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI; Paul Scherrer Institut) is a world-renowned Swiss institute dedicated to research in the fields of natural science and technology and engineer science, and is a member of the Swiss Federation of Comprehensive Engineering Schools, formed by the merger of the former Swiss Institute for Atomic Energy and the Swiss Federal Reactor Institute in 1988. It is a member of the Swiss Consortium of Comprehensive Engineering Schools, formed in 1988 by the merger of the former Swiss Institute for Atomic Energy and the Swiss Federal Institute for Reactor Research, and its research includes the fields of medicine, physics, materials science, life sciences, nuclear and non-nuclear energy.
