The University of Ticino (USI; Università della Svizzera italiana; Swiss Italian University) is Switzerland's leading public interdisciplinary and multilingual university, the only public university in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, founded in 1996 and located in Lugano, the largest city in the canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland. Lugano, the largest city in the southern Swiss canton of Ticino, has four faculties: Economics, Communication Sciences, Informatics and Architecture, of which the Faculty of Architecture is the world-renowned Mendrisio School of Architecture.
