The Swedish Football Association (Svenska Fotbollförbundet (SvFF) is the governing body of soccer in Sweden, based in Solna, and responsible for organizing all levels of the league (the highest level being the Swedish Premier League) and the Swedish national team, founded in 1904 and joining FIFA in the same year and UEFA in 1954.

The Swedish national soccer team is the most successful soccer team in Scandinavia. Sweden's participation in the World Cup has been extensive, with a total of 11 qualifying matches in the final week up to the 2006 World Cup. The best result was the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, when Sweden eliminated West Germany 3-1 in the quarterfinals to reach the finals, and eventually lost 2-5 to Brazil, who had Pele in their squad. The other time was in 1994 when they reached the quarterfinals and won a third place.
