Holy Altar Rock (Pulpit Rock) Pulpit Rock, also known as the pulpit, is one of Norway's most famous tourist attractions. It is a natural rock about 25 meters square, and the reason it is unique and attractive to people who come from far away is that it rises vertically 604 meters above the sea.

Pulpit Rock (Altar Rock) in The original name in Norwegian is "Hyvlatonnå", meaning the teeth of a woodpecker, while the present name of Pulpit Rock (Altar Rock) may be due to its shape, or perhaps because of the natural beauty of the area, which gives people a sense of reverence and sacred awe.

Altar Rock is located near Fossan in the Rifik region of Rogaland in southwestern Norway. The cliff stands on the shore of Lüser Gorge, 604 meters high, facing Mount Sherrag, the top is a 25-meter square rock, the shape resembles a church priest's pulpit, hence the name. Standing at the top of the altar rock, the view is wide and it is a good place to see the canyon. It takes about 2 hours to walk from the foot of the mountain to the rock platform, which is 3.8 kilometers long. Altar Rock is considered to be an ancient Viking ritual site, and the top of the rock platform can accommodate hundreds of people. From July to August every year, the sunshine hours in Scandinavia are particularly long, and many tourists come to Altar Rock to enjoy sunbathing and watching the sea. If you don't want to crowd the Altar Rock, it is best to come around April.
