Al-Sharq, a pro-government newspaper based in Doha and one of the country's three leading Arab newspapers, was founded in 1987 and published by the Orient Newspaper Company, providing coverage of meetings and events attended by the ruling family and government officials. 65,000 copies of the newspaper were distributed in 2010.
