brief introduction

The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea was originally built in the capital, Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. It was opened to the public in 1969 and moved to Deoksu-gung, also in Seoul, in 1973. Since then, as public awareness and enthusiasm for art grew, the museum needed to expand its exhibition space and provide more convenient facilities, and in 1986 a new museum and open-air sculpture garden were completed in Gwacheon, near Seoul.

The Korea National Museum of Modern Art is one of the most attractive cultural institutions in Korea. The museum is surrounded by beautiful scenery and a pleasant environment, and its architecture is in line with traditional Korean aesthetic features while meeting the needs of various international art exhibitions.

Subsequently, in 1998, the Deoksugung Museum of Fine Arts was established as a branch of the National Museum of Modern Art. With its convenient location and original exhibitions, the National Museum of Modern Art has become one of the most attractive cultural institutions in Korea.

The National Museum of Modern Art in Korea consists of a core tower, a central exhibition hall, seven auxiliary galleries on three floors, and an open-air sculpture garden. At present, the museum's collection has reached more than 5,360 pieces, of which modern times account for the vast majority, including Korean paintings, oil paintings, sculptures, crafts and so on.

For a long time, the National Museum of Modern Art in Korea has been actively holding exchange exhibitions with museums in other countries to present a more complete picture of contemporary art. In addition to exhibitions, the museum also regularly holds art events such as film, drama, dance, and music, enabling the public to gain a comprehensive understanding of art and culture.
