Citibank Korea is the overseas institution of Citibank Group in Korea, having opened its first branch in the Korean market in 1967. On February 24, 2004, Citibank acquired Hanmi Bank in Korea, becoming the first foreign financial institution to acquire a controlling and operating interest in a Korean commercial bank. The bank's operations are concentrated in major cities, including Seoul, and its future goal is to strengthen its online presence throughout Korea.
