The Lusto Finnish Forest Museum, located in Designed in 1991 by three young architects, Mikko Kaira, Limari Lahdelma and Rainer Mahlamäki, the Forest Museum is located in the eastern lake district between a 60-kilometer-long forest belt and a scattering of lakes, near the Punkaharju lake embankment. The general layout of the Forest Museum embodies the spirit of returning to nature, with a curved façade interspersed with a rectangle, and smaller, regular forms around the main building to create a flexible external environment, making the building a free extension of the landscape. Lusto tells the story of the interdependence between humans and the forest over the past million years, showing the importance of the forest in the Finnish economy.
