brief introduction

The Finnish Design Museum is one of the most important design museums in Finland. The museum was built in 1873, during World War II the exhibits were looted by the enemy, in 1978 the Finnish government re-established the Design Museum in a building located in the center of Helsinki.

Marianne Aavo, curator of the Design Museum Aav (Marianne Aav) said: every year the Museum of Design will probably hold 10-15 exhibitions. Among them, there are 3-4 large exhibitions, which will be displayed for about a month or two; there are also some small exhibitions, which may only be a week to a few weeks. There is a department within the museum institution that specializes in organizing exhibitions. Exhibitors need to submit an application first, and a committee from this department will decide whether they can have an exhibition in the museum and when it will be held.

We always try to find a balance between pure art exhibitions and craft exhibitions, and we also take care of domestic exhibitions and international exhibitions. In short, we always try to include all aspects of art and design for Finns to learn more about.

In 2008, we held many design exhibitions about jewelry, some from Finnish designers, some from foreign designers, such as Indian The design is from Finnish designers, some from foreign designers, such as Indian designers and so on. There is also an exhibition of furniture from Kookaburra, which will be on display for about two months. There is also an exhibition of industrial products by young Finnish designers and an exhibition of Finnish ceramics and glass.
