Joensuun yliopisto is a leading international university in Finland, founded in 1969, with 55 universities around the world, coordinator of the Finnish-Russian Transnational University, current chair of the SILVA network (a European network of universities offering master's and doctoral programs in forestry), and president of the European University Foundation. It is also a member of the European University Foundation, the Nordic Centre of Fudan University in China and the Nordic Centre in India, and is a partner university of UNEP. The university has six departments, including education, forestry, humanities, natural sciences, social sciences and theology.
