Nlr.RU:National Library of Russia Located on Neva Street in St. Petersburg, Russia, it was known as the State Public Saltykov-Serdrin Library from 1932 to 1992 (i.e. the Soviet period) and is the oldest public library in the Russian Empire. It is worth mentioning that it is different from the Russian State Library in Moscow.

The National Library of Russia covers many different periods: Catherine the Great, Alexander I, Nicholas I, the February and October Revolutions, the World War II era. All the events and changed circumstances of Russian life inevitably affect the life in the library.
