Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (National University) was established in 1946, its predecessor is the Moscow State University Department of Physics and Technology. The university is a polytechnic state university in Moscow, Russia, to theoretical physics, applied physics, applied mathematics and other areas of expertise, often referred to as "Russia's MIT".
