The Moscow State Department Store, known as the "Gum", is located on the east side of Red Square, directly opposite the Kremlin. Built in 1893, the "Gum" is today one of the ten most famous department stores in the world. Rather than a store, it is more like a palace, with its classical European style beige building and the magnificent colorful church next to it harmoniously forming a beautiful landscape on the Red Square. "Gum" is divided into three floors and consists of more than 1,000 specialty stores, including Russian porcelain, handicrafts, clothing, department stores and other fine products, as well as a wide range of imported goods.
