The German Science Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG for short) is Europe's largest research promotion agency, headquartered in Bonn, whose main responsibility is to fund research at German universities and public research institutes. The DFG provides approximately 1.3 billion euros annually to promote scientific research, and has established the Leibniz Prize to reward outstanding scientists in various scientific fields working in Germany.
