Daimler AG is a German automobile manufacturer and one of the world's largest manufacturers of luxury cars, trucks, and commercial vehicles. Daimler was founded by Karl Benz in 1886 as the first automobile company, and Gottlieb Daimler in 1890 as the Daimler Engine Company in the 1920s. 1998, Daimler and Chrysler merged to form DaimlerChrysler Automobiles, and in 2007 the two were separated, the latter now forming the Fiat Chrysler Group with Fiat. Daimler's brands include: Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG, Maybach, Smart, Unimog, and also holds shares in Aston Martin, Tesla and other companies.
