Aldi (ALDI) is the largest supermarket chain in Germany. Its predecessor was the Albrecht brothers who took over their mother's food retail store in the suburban mining area of Essen, Germany in 1948. 1962 the store was reorganized and the first food supermarket named after Aldi was born in Dortmund.
