The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is Australia's national research agency, formerly known as the Scientific and Industrial Advisory Council (SIRC), established in 1926. CSIRO's main research results include Atomic-Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), the world's first CSIRO's main research findings include Atomic-Absorption Spectroscopy, the world's first plastic banknotes, aerial insect repellents, gene sticking technology, the promotion of a range of pest control systems, the Panoptic search engine (now known as Funnelback), the votApedia telephone questionnaire system and the Annodex video content tagging system.
