The Australian Writers' Guild (AWC) is a trade association representing Australian literary creators. Founded in 1962, its mission is to protect freedom of expression, safeguard the rights of Australian writers, protect their legitimate earnings, and promote the development of literary endeavors in Australia. The Australian Writers' Association currently has more than 3,000 members, most of whom are performing writers in the film, television, theater, radio, video and new media industries. The Association is also a member of the Council of Australian Trade Unions.
