The African Union (abbreviated AU, AU) is an all-African political entity, formerly known as the Organization of African Unity (OAU), founded in 1963. "It was reorganized in South Africa in 2002. The main purpose of the African Union is to develop democracy, human rights, and economy in Africa, reduce armed warfare within Africa, and eventually build an African united state.
