The League of Arab States (جامعة الدول العربية; Arab League; abbreviated as Arab League or LAS) is a regional international political organization founded in 1945 and headquartered in Cairo, with Arab countries as members, with the aim of strengthening cooperation among its members and safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations. The purpose is to strengthen cooperation among member states and to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country.
